Description
Junior Leadership Intensive is a one-day leadership and career development experience designed specifically for high school students. Through interactive workshops, hands-on activities, and conversations with local business and community leaders, students will gain practical skills that will help them succeed in school, college, internships, and future careers.
Throughout the day, students will connect with experienced professionals and peers while building confidence, expanding their network, and discovering how their unique strengths can make an impact.
Whether preparing for college, seeking internships, or entering the workforce, Junior Leadership Intensive provides students with the skills, confidence, and connections needed to take the next step in their leadership journey.
Parents, employers, and mentors are encouraged to invest in the growth of the students they support. By participating in Junior Leadership Intensive, students gain real-world leadership, communication, and career-readiness skills that can help them stand out in the classroom, the workplace, and beyond.

Session Breakdown
Leader vs. Manager | Nina Menis, Executive Director, KidsMatter
Students will explore the differences between leadership and management, including when to inspire, when to guide, and how both skill sets contribute to success in school, organizations, and future careers.
Leadership Styles Assessment & Discussion | Rena Calabrese, President & CEO, Naper Settlement
Through a leadership style assessment and guided discussion, students will identify their natural leadership tendencies and learn how to collaborate effectively with individuals who have different approaches.
Financial Literacy for Young Adults | Tanveer Rawoof, Assistant Branch Manager, Naperville Bank & Trust
This session introduces students to essential financial concepts, including budgeting, credit, taxes, saving, and investing, helping them build a strong foundation for financial independence.
Networking Lunch | Young Professionals Network (YPN) Committee
Students will connect with local young professionals, ask questions about career paths and leadership experiences, and practice professional networking in a supportive environment.
Building a Professional LinkedIn Profile | Patti Minglin, CEO, GoGirl Communication
Students will learn how to create or enhance a LinkedIn profile, develop a professional online presence, and begin building a network that can support future academic and career goals.
Resume Building Workshop
Participants will learn resume best practices and begin developing a professional resume that highlights their involvement, accomplishments, skills, and leadership experiences. Additional panelist to be confirmed.
