Position Description – Warehouse Assistant/Driver
(full-time hourly)

The Warehouse Assistant/Driver will assist the Food Rescue and Receiving Manager with the day-to-day food rescue operation, assistance of the Loaves & Fishes warehouse and food distribution. The Warehouse Assistant/Driver will work in collaboration with the Food Rescue and Receiving Manager to support the daily activities of the organization with a focus on the pick-up of rescued product, receiving, inventorying, and performing general maintenance of equipment. The Warehouse Assistant/Driver reports to and is supervised by the Food Rescue and Receiving Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Drive for product pick-ups as necessary at local stores, warehouses and food partners

- Assist the Food Rescue and Receiving Manager with the successful daily operation of the warehouse and food handling process, including receiving, sorting, stocking, rotation and distribution of all incoming grocery items in the warehouse, freezer and cooler

- Managing/updating inventory information within inventory management system

- Understand and operate power equipment, forklift and baler

- Assist with disposition of pallets into and out of the racking system and inventory

- Managing sorting/prepack areas and coordinating efforts

- Monitor and maintain cleaning, sanitation standards and safe food handling standards in the warehouse, food storage areas and food rescue process

- Managing client distribution from time to time

- Maintain partner relationships with courtesy and Loaves & Fishes core values

- Proactively engaging and interacting with volunteers

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Forklift certification and competency
• Driver’s license, including ability to drive larger transport vehicles with a B-license or ability to secure B-license
• An ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and full range of motion in bending, lifting and general movement
• Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and evenings
• Minimum of High School level education and basic competency on computer (email, Excel data entry)

$17-$20/hr.
