Marmion Abbey and Academy is Hiring-Executive Director of Finance

 

The Executive Director (ED) of Finance is responsible for the preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles for the Academy, Alumni Association, Abbey and Abbey Farms.  To assist in the preparation of those financial statements, the ED establishes and monitors internal financial controls.  The ED supervises daily operation of the following accounting functions: general ledger, accounts receivable, cash receipts, accounts payable, cash disbursements and payroll.  The ED leads the Finance Office to effectively and efficiently meet Marmion’s financial and accounting goals.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of Finance Office
  • Office personnel
  • Financial Edge accounting software
  • Payroll processed using Paychex Flex
  • Reporting and Presentations
  • Annual audited financial statements
  • Annual financial meetings for Abbey Council and Abbey Chapter
  • Annual budgeting
  • Annual and quarterly tax forms and returns (payroll, sales, UBIT, 1099, etc.)
  • Meetings held three times per year for each of the following: Board of Trustees, Finance Committee, Investment Sub-Committee & Abbey Farms Ad Hoc Committee
  • Quarterly bank covenant compliance
  • Monthly Business Council meetings of the Academy and Abbey Farms
  • Maintain parent communication of Academy students
  • Chair financial aid committee
  • Field parent questions regarding financial aid applications which requires having a sound knowledge of personal and business taxes
  • Develop alternate payment plans to accommodate special financial situations
  • Contact parents who are delinquent on payment plans
  • Evaluate student accounts that need to be placed on hold due to delinquency
  • Insurance, group plans and business property/casualty risk pooling trust
  • Work with broker to negotiate group insurance plans and communicate updates to employees
  • Process employee changes at open enrollment and throughout year
  • Manage auto, property, liability, workers’ compensation and unemployment reimbursement insurances
  • File claims and fulfill adjuster documentation requests

Requirements:


Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.  Master’s Degree or CPA Preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of accounting and supervisory experience in a leadership role.

Proven Knowledge of:

  • Financial audit process either in lead auditee or auditor role
  • Not-for-profit and for profit accounting
  • Internal control objectives
  • Taxes – Payroll, sales, UBIT, 1099, personal and business
  • Human resource management
  • Microsoft Office programs, in particular Microsoft Excel
  • Blackbaud Financial Edge accounting software is a plus

  • Work with many constituents including faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni, Board of Trustees, auditors, financial institution leaders and vendors
  • A clear understanding and appreciation of the role of a Catholic institution and commitment to its philosophy, mission and objectives
